My missing Dragon Dancers!

I was really disappointed the Olympic Opening Ceremony did not have Dragon Dancers. I saw them in a Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco a few years back and really liked them.

Lucky for me I got to see some up close and personal this weekend. I went to Paul's sister's wedding in the Bay Area and they used Dragon Dancers to introduce the Wedding Party and open the reception before dinner. They were a definite highlight! Bravo! By the way, they are actually lions, not dragons, they ward off evil spirits. (Below are a couple photos from the wedding)

UPDATE: This trip was just for the wedding, but previously I've done all the touristy things to do in San Fran i.e. Trolley Cars, Fisherman's Wharf, etc.
The banners the lions presented were proclamations of protection and wishes for good luck. I wish I had a better video of the dancers, they performed for a 7-10 mins and ended with confetti shooting from their mouths over the wedding party. It was really cool! (PS. they were kids inside the lions and playing the drums you hear. I would say around 10 years old)
The food was REALLY good, especially the chicken and steak.

I have never seen dragon dancers before, and certainly never at a wedding, how fun. Did you get to site see much while in CA?

I've never seen anything like that either. Those are so cute. What are the banners that they appear to spit out? I hope you had tons of fun, it had to be kind of nerve racking with Pauls mom not knowing and all. You're awesome!

Not that this has anything to do with this post, but I want to go to a football game this year. Can you get tickets to any of them?

So Sausha, is this the "Wicked" same as the Broadway play?? I have seen the play and you must definetly make it past the middle. It has great twists and turns and secrets revealed. I saw the play with no expectations whatsoever, and I LOVED it. I liked that it revealed TRUTHS & HOPE. I heard the book is slightly more "sexy" I don't know if that's the right word, but I was going to find the book and see what the differences are. Hope its the same as the play.
