Boys Vs Girls

So yesterday in my Cultural Diversity class we were discussing whether or not same-sex classrooms were better then mixed-gender classrooms. There seemed to be many pros for a same-sex classroom one of which is that boys and girls learn differently and and if they are in a classroom of just boys or just girls they actually learn better. (studies show most classrooms today are actually geared toward the way girls learn) I expected debate on whether or not there should be same-sex classrooms, but I DIDN'T expect debate on whether or not boys and girls where different!!! I was shocked to hear more then one person say it is wrong to think boys and girls are different cognitively, that they boys only act like boys and girls only act like girls because that is what how they've been taught their whole lives. I couldn't believe it, do these people not observe children, have they NOT read the studies that prove boys and girls are different on a cognitive level.

I decided to stay out of this discussion, because I SO disagreed with their philosophy. I just couldn't understand where they were coming from. Watch small children and it's obvious boys are different from girls...we were created that way! All I could think about while I was sitting in class was this part from The Proclamation to the World

"All human beings—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual pre-mortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose."

We are different by Devine design, it's a Truth that has been from the beginning of time. It be true no matter how hard society tries to make it wrong. It makes me sad that these are the people who will be teaching our children...

I agree with you. I see this all the time with Rees and kids his age; different even when 9 months old.
