It's a Twilight Thang!

So I admit it, I got sucked into world of Twilight. I realize many of you out there HATE Twilight and well that's too bad : ) Feel free to skip this post if it's not up your alley.

It all started when I decided to read the books and find out what all the hype was about. I saw 'Twilight' when it came out and wasn't too impressed. When I saw 'New Moon' (a better movie) I started to get into the story. It has a Romeo and Juliet quality, and if you know me at all, you know I LOVE tragic love stories. I got the books and started to read thinking I would be able to read them without becoming one of the dreaded "Twihards". I was wrong, I got totally sucked in and now understand the whole phenomenon. I read all 4 books, plus the incomplete Midnight Sun manuscript, in approximately 1 week. I was hooked and re-read them all, with the exception of the last book, Breaking Dawn, kinda hated it, but that's a story for another day.

The books are not literary masterpieces, but there's just something special about the story that draws you in and makes you want more. My friends said it best, "The characters have a very innocent and intense connection, based on old fashion romance. We live in a world where everything is so casual and thrust in your face all the time...romance is gone. That's why people connect with this story, they are longing for romance".

Anyway, like I said I've been into Twilight lately and so have a few of my girl friends. We had a screening party of the movies. Yes it was themed, but it was all done is fun. We certainly don't take any of this too seriously, it was a good time and fun to decorate!

The colors were red, black and white, with the exception of the Jacob themed items. We had red and white candles everywhere lighting the room. Red and black paper lanterns hung from the ceiling with glowing lights. The goodie bags had themed candy, red, black, and sparkly nail polish and a cute little apple. We replaced all the pictures on the walls with posters and sayings from the movies and yes there is was a cardboard Edward! Here are a few pics..unfortunately the camera flash makes it look like the lights were on. I promise the candlelight made everything look WAY cooler.

PS...for those who are wondering... I'm totally Team Edward even though my fav book is New Moon...it's that tragic love story thing : )

I need to show Justin the way you throw a party, then he won't care so much about my decoration obsession! :)

I haven't read the books, not because I'm anti, just haven't read them, but my friends describe them like you, entertaining but not the best quality when it comes to writing. (they also don't love the last book) Anyhow, I think your party sounds like it would be fun. It appears you have a knack for good parties.

Thanks for sharing your life happenings. I love your Twilight party...it looks like you are very good at throwing parties. I showed the pictures to my daughters and they want to have one now. We are a house divided with some liking Edward and some liking Jacob. When I read the books, I thought these are such an easy read but yet they sucked me in to keep reading them. If you have not read her book the Host you might like that one as well. :)
