Triple D Adventure

Paul and I have FINALLY finished our tour of the local restaurants featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I take that back, we didn't eat at Rick's Press Room, not for lack of trying however. We went a few times and they were always closed, so we said forget it.

First we went to Bar Gernkia, a Basque restaurant in downtown Boise. One of the specialty foods and one featured on the show is cow tongue...we did not try that. I had the Solomo sandwich - marinated pork loin with pimientos and served on a freshly baked french roll and Paul had the Lamb Grinder. We also had these yummy little cheese curd things called croquetas. They were REALLY good. Overall the restaurant was ok, but not a must have.

Then we tried the Westside Drive-In on State Street. We really liked this place and have been back several times since. Here's a picture of the slider special... I think it was only $4.00 including drinks!

Next stop Hilltop Cafe aka Kodiak Grill on top of the hill past Lucky Peak. Another yummy spot we recommend. We haven't been back but would like to...I want to try their breakfast!

I can't remember the name of what we ate, but it was good! Oh we had sweet potato fries too.

Then we checked out the most uniquely name restaurant on the list...PizzalChick. They serve pizza, salads and roasted chicken. The inside leaves much to be desired, but it was really yummy. We opted for pizza and potato salad, but the chicken looked amazing. I think we will go back for chicken some time.

The pizza we choose was Wild Forest Mist - elk, wild mushrooms and rainbows - I know the picture doesn't look too appetizing but trust me it was good!

Last but not least we tried Donnie Mac's Trailer Park Cuisine. I was really excited about this one, but came away less then impressed. The food is average, nothing special. It's the decor' that makes this place what it is. I will say the custard ice was super yummy!

Fun idea!!!
We weren't that impressed with Donnie Macs either. The enviornment is fun, except for during the summer when there are flies all over.

That does sound fun. I could see myself doing something like that. Glad you found some good food.
